When Can I Start?
When asked: When can I start? I usually follow up with: Who wants to earn college credits — you or your student? Earning Credits by Exam is not just for high school students! Adults are earning the bulk of their credits for a college degree through CBEs. But that doesn’t answer your question.
There is not an upper or lower age limit to taking a CLEP or DSST exam. Students are starting as young as 13 while others earn their first credits after they’ve already gone off to college. In the middle-school years, set your student up for success by teaching him or her strong study and organizational skills. Encourage them to take ownership of their education in small ways … your task of facilitating their studies later on will be much easier.
