Why we chose Thomas Edison State College

Thomas Edison State College (TESC) is a regionally-accredited state college in New Jersey that is a leader in distance education.  Though they have an actual brick and mortar site, TESC specializes in off-site education:

Thomas Edison State College’s campus comprises five buildings located in the historic district surrounding New Jersey’s State Capitol Building in Trenton, N.J.

Students rarely visit the campus. They complete courses, take exams and earn their degrees wherever it is convenient for them.  For many, it’s their home. For others, it’s the office or the local library. For most military students, it’s wherever they are deployed.

campus with thousands of students attending traditional courses, they have a large crowd earning their degrees through nontraditional means, providing greater flexibility than a typical brick and mortar campus.”

One HUGE benefit of working with TESC is that you can transfer in up to 120 credits (100%) earned elsewhere.  Since they are regionally accredited, this means all CLEP and DSST credits, credits from Anoka Ramsey Community College, St. Cloud State University, Northwestern College, etc. are all accepted.  What is required is that the student fulfills the course requirements within their chosen degree plan, which is posted on their website.

The end result:  High school students can complete their degree at their own pace (often early), earning credit by exam during their HS years AND taking advantage of MN’s PSEO program.  ALL credits can be transferred in without losing any in the process.  The annual enrollment fee is just under $3,000 so a savvy consumer will accumulate credits toward their degree plan, enrolling in TESC within one year of completing their degree.
